SUMMARY:Bank Job
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJune 25-29 \nArtist/filmmaker team Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell live in an area plagued by debt – mortgage debt\, credit card debt\, public debt – which impoverishes families\, communities and public services. So they recruit their neighbors to set up a bank in their High Street to print their own currency which they then sell as art works. The plan is to raise money to support the local school and community projects and\, more daringly\, to buy up over $1 million of the debts of local people. These debts are being sold on the market for a small fraction of their face value. \nBANK JOB follows Dan and Hilary as they succeed in their aim\, eventually (and spectacularly) blowing up the debt in the shadow of London’s financial district. Along the way\, they meet with economists\, politicians and anti-debt campaigners in America (including the late anthropologist David Graeber) to discover how debt is created in our economy and ask important questions about how the system of money creation might be altered in society’s favor…not just to the banking system’s benefit. \nWith wit\, insight\, and gunpowder\, BANK JOB argues that these debts are a result of a monetary system which is impoverishing multitudes by design\, and which could be changed. SUMMARY:When Fall Is Coming
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJuly 2-6 \nAfter a tumultuous life in Paris\, Michelle (Hélène Vincent) has retired to a quiet existence in Burgundy\, tending her garden and attending services at her parish. The voracious hostility of her adult daughter Valérie (Ludivine Sagnier) remains Michelle’s great puzzlement: how can a child for whom she sacrificed so much treat her with such contempt and suspicion? When Valérie drops off her son for a week with his grandmother\, Michelle sees an opportunity to repair the relationship\, but a culinary accident soon undercuts whatever trust remains. With the help of her best friend Marie Claude (Josiane Balasko)\, whose son (Pierre Lottin) has recently been released from prison\, Michelle plots a path towards restoring the family life so long denied her. With a deceptively placid surface\, master stylist François Ozon cooks up a twisty and destabilizing thriller where family ties remain the most mysterious ingredient of all. SUMMARY:Secret Mall Apartment
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJuly 2-6 \nIn 2003\, eight Rhode Island artists created a secret apartment inside the busy Providence Place Mall and lived there for four years\, filming everything along the way. They snuck in furniture\, tapped into the mall’s electricity\, and even constructed a wall\, smuggling in more than two tons of cinderblock. Far more than just a wild prank\, the secret apartment became a deeply meaningful place for its inhabitants. It was a personal expression of defiance against local gentrification\, a boundary-pushing work of public/private art\, a clubhouse in which large-scale charitable art projects were planned\, and\, finally\, a 750 square-foot “F you” to The Man. Featuring never-before-seen footage of the space and revealing the identities of all the participants for the first time\, SECRET MALL APARTMENT is more than just a bonkers true story. Director Jeremy Workman (Lily Topples The World\, The World Before Your Feet\, Deciding Vote) delivers a poignant exploration of a group of artists who discovered their purpose within the most commercial and improbable places. SUMMARY:No Other Land
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nPresented by Boulder Nablus Sister City Project\, and Boulder Showing up for Racial Justice. \nOscar‑winning feature documentary. For half a decade\, Basel Adra\, a Palestinian activist\, films his community of Masafer Yatta being destroyed by Israel’s occupation\, as he builds an unlikely alliance with an Israeli journalist who wants to join his fight. “Given the conditions of its production\, NO OTHER LAND would be vital even in a more ragged form. But the filmmaking here is tight and considered\, with nimble editing (by the directors themselves) that captures the sense of time at once passing and looping back on itself.” – Guy Lodge\, Variety (Yuval Abraham\, Basel Adra\, Hamdan Ballal\, Rachel Szor\, 2024\, Occupied Palestinian Territory\, 1:32\, NR)

SUMMARY:Familiar Touch
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJuly 9-15 \nRuth (Kathleen Chalfant)\, a retired cook\, prepares breakfast in her sunny and cozy kitchen — a dish she seems to have made many times before\, although small and puzzling errors now punctuate her comfortable routine. When her son (H. Jon Benjamin) arrives to dine with her\, she mistakes him for a suitor. Their “date” takes them to an assisted living facility\, which Ruth does not remember that she had previously selected for herself. Among her fellow memory care residents\, Ruth feels lost and adrift\, certain she has found herself somewhere she does not belong. As she slowly begins to accept the warmth and support of care workers Vanessa (Carolyn Michele) and Brian (Andy McQueen)\, she finds new ways to ground herself in her body\, even as her mind embarks on a journey all its own. Writer-director Sarah Friedland’s coming-of-old-age feature compassionately follows the winding path of octogenarian Ruth’s shifting memories and desires while remaining rooted in her sage perspective. SUMMARY:Classics with Jeffrey Kash: The Facts of Life
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJuly 14\nUnlike the typical Bob Hope and Lucille Ball vehicles\, The Facts of Life is essentially a domestic drama with comic undertones. Hope is married to Ruth Hussey\, while Ball is the wife of Don DeFore. All four are old friends\, who for many years have taken each other for granted. A series of unforeseen circumstances requires Hope and Ball to spend a great deal of time together without their spouses\, and as a result they fall in love. Though the affair is never consummated\, Hope and Ball are prepared to run off together\, but in the end they decide that adultery at their age just isn’t worth the trouble. Long unavailable for viewing due to legal tangles\, The Facts of Life has gained legendary status as one of the few Bob Hope films of the 1960s to concentrate on character development rather than silly one-liners. Recent viewings have revealed that\, though a far more mature work than one might expect from Hope or Ball\, Facts of Life still relies to a great extent on the sort of TV sitcom material that the fans of the two stars had come to expect by 1960. Still\, the film was considered offbeat enough to warrant an Oscar nomination for best screenplay (Melvin Frank\,  1961\, USA\, 1:43\, NR)

SUMMARY:Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival 2025: The American Southwest
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n\n\n\n\nProducer Dr. Len Necefer will join us afterwards for a discussion\nThe American Southwest is a thrilling wildlife movie that chronicles life and death along the Colorado River…and advocates for its return. \nThe feature-length film follows the Colorado River from its headwaters in the Rocky Mountains\, through lush forests and iconic canyons\, and down diversion tunnels and irrigation canals on its 1\,400-mile journey to sustain both the natural world and humanity. Along the way\, the river nourishes diverse ecosystems that are bursting with life\, and provides water to more than 40 million people. From the recovery of elk and beavers to the endangerment of cutthroat trout and jaguars\, the movie showcases wildlife stories that speak to our society’s ability to both destroy and recover the natural world. \nNarrated by Quannah ChasingHorse\, The American Southwest is set to be the first-ever blue chip natural history film narrated by an Indigenous voice. Through collaboration with Natives Outdoors\, the film also features incredible artwork\, architecture\, and culture of Indigenous peoples who have lived in relative harmony with the region for over one thousand generations. \nWith a changing climate\, rapidly growing population\, and continuous over-allocation of the world’s most litigated river\, there has never been a more important time to inspire conservation efforts that ensure wildlife\, rivers\, and humans thrive. The American Southwest aims to foster a love for the region\, ignite hope for conservation success\, encourage action to return healthy river flows\, and raise awareness before the Colorado River Compact is renegotiated in 2026. \nDirected by Ben Masters \nRuntime: 102 mins \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProducer Dr. Len Necefer \n\n\n\n\nDr. Len Necefer is the CEO & Founder of NativesOutdoors\, a media and consulting company focused on environmental advocacy\, outdoor recreation\, and sustainability. SUMMARY:Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival 2025: Lost Wolves of Yellowstone
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nTHE LOST WOLVES OF YELLOWSTONE\nA captivating film from Yellowstone National Park\, where a group of biologists led by a charismatic woman set out to bring back the wolves – a project that changed their own lives forever. \nThe wolf holds a special place in the animal kingdom. The proud and feared predator is almost a mythological creature in the story of humanity’s own history. So when the decision was made in 1995 to reintroduce the wolf to the vast Yellowstone National Park\, it was not without opposition. \nLeading the project was charismatic biologist Mollie Beattie\, who\, along with her colorful and sympathetic team of colleagues\, was charged with bringing wolves back at a time when they had been extinct for 50 years. But not everyone was thrilled with the idea that wolves would soon be allowed to roam free again. The project became a political battle that required all of Beattie’s skills as a biologist\, diplomat and storyteller. \nThe documentary ‘Lost Wolves of Yellowstone’ unfolds this magnificent story as an epic drama with a twinkle in the eye – not least from Beattie’s idealistic and charming colleagues\, who experience the amazing and beautiful footage from back then for the first time. This event is in collaboration with the Rocky Mountains Wolf Project.

SUMMARY:Boulder Environmental Nature Outdoors Film Festival 2025: Half-Life of Memory: America's Forgotten Atomic Bomb Factory
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n\n\n\nWatch the Trailer >\nIn the suburbs of Denver\, the U.S. secretly manufactured thousands of atomic weapons\, leaving behind a toxic legacy that will persist for generations. \nThe Rocky Flats plant produced a staggering 70\,000 atomic bombs\, each serving as a “trigger” for thermonuclear warheads. Concealed by government secrecy\, the plant’s fires\, leaks\, and illicit dumping of nuclear waste contaminated the Denver area with long-lived radioactive toxins. \nA major—and highly visible—plutonium fire sparked a decade of mass protests\, culminating in an unprecedented FBI raid that ultimately shuttered the plant. Today\, the radioactive legacy of Rocky Flats continues to threaten public health\, yet surprisingly few people are aware the plant ever existed. \nThrough powerful testimonials and extraordinary archival media\, Half-Life of Memory exposes Rocky Flats’ dark past and enduring impact\, prompting critical reflection on the implications of the nation’s renewed nuclear weapons buildup. \nDirected by Jeffrey Gipe \nRuntime: 55 minutes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeffrey GIPE\, Director’s Statement \n\n\n\n\nAs the director of Half-Life of Memory\, I am honored to share this film\, which explores the complex and contested legacy of the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant. This project is profoundly personal to me\, as my father is among those who worked at Rocky Flats and endured the severe consequences of the nuclear arms race. \nHalf-Life of Memory is not just a film; it is a personal mission to unveil the concealed realities of Rocky Flats and to amplify the voices of those who have been affected. Through meticulous research and heartfelt testimonials\, Half-Life of Memory exposes the lasting impacts of nuclear arms production on individuals and communities. \nWith rising nuclear tensions and a new buildup of nuclear weapons underway\, addressing the radioactive legacy of Rocky Flats is more urgent than ever to ensure that lessons from its past are not ignored. \nHalf-Life of Memory stands as a tribute to my father\, to all the workers who sacrificed their well-being\, and to the countless lives impacted by nuclear weapons production. It is my hope that this film will honor their stories and serve as a catalyst for meaningful
