SUMMARY:The Chronology of Water | Feb 4-8
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nBased on the beloved memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch and marking the directorial debut of Kristen Stewart\, The Chronology of Water is a raw and unflinching portrait of survival\, sexuality\, and self-invention. The film traces Lidia’s life from her earliest memories in the Pacific Northwest\, as a promising swimmer\, through fractured relationships\, near-motherhood\, addiction\, and encounters with artistic heroes. Told as a fluid memory wash\, the story transforms trauma into art\, embodying Yuknavitch’s defiant voice that made her work a modern cult classic. It is not only a chronicle of a woman becoming a writer\, but a visceral journey through the wreckage and resilience of a life lived against the grain. (Kristen Stewart\, 2026\, USA\, 2:08\, treat as R)

SUMMARY:Ain't No Back to a Merry-Go-Round | Feb 4-7
DESCRIPTION:TICKETSThis is the untold story of the first organized interracial civil rights protest in U.S. history. When 5 Howard University students sat on a Maryland carousel in 1960\, the arrests made headlines. When the white community near Glen Echo Amusement Park joined the Black students in picketing\, an extraordinary history-making partnership was born. The pickets attracted Nazis\, Congressman\, and a press avalanche. Picketing together over the sweltering summer led to partying together\, and union organizers mentored student activists. Ten 1961 Freedom Riders\, including Stokely Carmichael\, were incubated on the Glen Echo picket line\, and the carousel arrests were challenged in the Supreme Court case.  With never-before seen footage\, and immersive storytelling\, four living protesters rescue this forgotten history\, revealing the price\, and the power\, of heeding the impulse to activism. SUMMARY:Science on Screen® You Can't Miss What You Forget | Feb 8
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nScience on Screen® You Can’t Miss What You Forget \nDigital Memory and the Trouble with Letting Go \nWhat happens when we try to move on\, but our data won’t let us? \nFollowing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind\, Dr. Anthony T. Pinter explores how our online “data shadows” preserve relationships\, identities\, and memories long after they’ve ended. \nAs our lives change\, the data that represents us often doesn’t\, leaving behind digital versions of ourselves that no longer fit who we are now. The potential for incongruence between us and our online “data shadows” can be problematic during life transitions\, or moments where our identities change significantly (e.g.\, coming out\, dying\, becoming a parent\, amongst others). We may move on\, but our data shadows follow; resurfacing data to make recommendations and encouraging us to reminisce. \nMuch like sorting through the physical objects of sentimental value\, our data must also be considered in the aftermath of life transitions; some want to delete everything\, others prefer to keep and revisit it. Drawing from research on romantic breakups and digital identity\, this talk looks at how people decide what to do with the data left behind after a relationship ends. From the framework of two curatorial philosophies – the archivist and revisionist – Dr. Pinter will discuss how people make decisions about what to do with their data\, how they enact those decisions\, and how to contend with the algorithmic curator. \nBlending themes of memory\, loss\, and control\, this Science on Screen conversation asks a deceptively simple question: in a world where forgetting isn’t entirely up to us\, what does it really mean to let go? \nIntroduction & film screening: 1:00 PM; Scientific Lecture 3:00 PM \nThis event is FREE for Dairy Arts Center Members as part of the Science on Screen® series \n  \nABOUT THE SPEAKER \nDR. ANTHONY T. PINTER is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Creative Technology & Design in the ATLAS Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a BS and MS in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University\, and an MS and PhD in Information Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Pinter’s scholarship focuses on the experiences people have during life transitions and how those experiences are translated into data and online identities. He is specifically interested in how people make decisions about what to do with the data left behind after a romantic relationship ends\, how those decisions contribute to the formation of post-break-up identities\, and how to design systems to support that decision-making. Dr. Pinter’s work has appeared in top-tier journals and conferences such as the ACM Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW). \n \n  \nABOUT THE FILM \n \nETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND \nAfter a painful breakup\, Clementine (Kate Winslet) undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship\, he undergoes the same procedure and slowly begins to forget the woman that he loved. Directed by Michel Gondry\, this visually arresting film explores the intricacy of relationships and the pain of loss. Recently named one of the 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century. (Michel Gondry\, 2004\, USA\, 1:48\, R)

SUMMARY:Natchez | Feb 11-15
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nNATCHEZ captures an unsettling clash between history and memory in a small Mississippi town; a layered mosaic of people contending with the weight of the past in a place where it is always present. Equal parts amusing and disturbing\, we journey through an antebellum tourist destination at a crossroads as it grapples with a deeply troubled history that is so thoroughly ingrained in its present\, we’re left to wonder if it’s actually past at all. SUMMARY:Friday Night Weird: King Baby
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nFeb 13 \nThis subversive-absurdist comedy\, which recently had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam\, is set in a warped modern fairytale ‘kingdom’ populated only by a King and a Servant (Graham Dickson and Neil Chinneck). But when a Queen mannequin arrives one day\, their carefully constructed lives are thrown into disarray\, madness\, and murderous megalomania. Combing the painful and playful\, filmmaker duo Kit and Arran present keen insights into the nuances of patriarchal brutality. (Kit Redstone & Arran Shearing\, 2025\, UK\, 1:28\, treat as R) \n\n

Moore takes us back through her recollections and perspectives leading up to the moment where she attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford\, and an eerie sense of déjà vu takes hold as the tightrope of tension—between the ideals of the US and the realities we are living through—becomes a stranglehold.
