And we could all use a feel good story too. This film is both. \nGRINTA! transports you to another place and time with a little-known story about heart and grit set in the beautiful vistas of Provence and Veneto\, Italy in the mid 1990s. \nIn GRINTA!\, Eros Poli\, a towering Italian professional cyclist now in midlife\, travels back to France on the thirtieth anniversary of when he defied all odds to a solo breakaway stage victory in the 1994 Tour de France on legendary Mont Ventoux. \nThe story is captivating and nostalgic for cyclists and non-cyclists alike\, and is as much about family and romance as it is about action and sport. \n-We experience a father’s unwavering support of his son\n-We see how a chance encounter can turn into a decades-long love story\n-And are along for the ride\, experiencing the thrill as a larger-than-life man goes all in on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity \nThis charming\, funny\, heartfelt film inspires us to believe that we all have the capacity to be unlikely heroes in our own stories. \n\n  \nTHE MOVEMENT \nIntroducing Grinta for Life \nWho were you before life told you who you had to be? What’s your purpose? Where do you go from here? Maybe you lost yourself somewhere along the way? \nBoulder cyclist and entrepreneur Jay Crain had been having the same conversations over and over for the past six years with midlife friends. They were discussing concerns about physical and mental health\, careers and relationships\, facing their own mortality while caring for aging parents\, and particularly around a loss of identity. \nThis generation’s transition into midlife faces challenges and opportunities that feel different. \nGrinta for Life is based on Jay’s personal experience of coming back from a dire health situation by first reconnecting with his identity. \nHe’s developing the program with an old college buddy\, Dr. Greg Welk\, a Kinesiology PHD\, 25-year college professor at Iowa State University. He is a published industry expert who started his career at the Olympic Training Center. His lifetime of scientific\, evidence-based research became the foundation of Grinta for Life\, a program which guides people through: \n• reconnecting with their identity\,\n• rewiring their brain\,\n• rebuilding their bodies\,\n• on their journey to reclaiming their identity. \n  \nTHE SPONSORS: \nAdjacent Lab Media\nAdjacent Lab Media was founded by Jay and Donna Crain\, after 30 years of working together across fashion and technology. Their first film\, GRINTA!\, is being featured in festivals worldwide. Their docu-series sharing inspiring stories of midlife grit and resilience is in production now. \nInGAMBA\ninGAMBA offers genuine connections to the places you visit and the people you meet. You’ll live like locals and make lifelong bonds. inGAMBA isn’t just an amazing experience\, it’s an entire community. And while even one tour in Italy\, or Portugal\, or Spain\, can be the trip of a lifetime\, it can be trips for a lifetime. \ninGAMBA trips frequently sell out. If you’re up for doing something yet this year\, or looking ahead to 2027\, you are guaranteed an unforgettable time. \nPinarello\nPinarello was founded in 1952 by Giovanni Pinarello in Treviso\, Italy. Known for crafting high-performance road\, track\, e-bikes\, gravel\, and mountain bikes with distinct designs\, advanced carbon fiber\, and a legacy of Grand Tour victories for top professional teams\, embodying Italian style\, innovation\, and a “born to win” racing spirit. \nNow with Fausto Pinarello at the helm\, they are sponsoring Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team\, a Swiss UCI ProTeam\, featuring a new navy and gold livery on their Pinarello Dogma F bikes\, with key riders like Tom Pidcock and Fred Wright\, who will use SRAM groupsets and Zipp wheels for the season\, marking a significant title partnership for Pinarello. \nUtah Film Center\, fiscal sponsor\nUtah Film Center’s mission is to connect people\, stories\, and ideas through film exhibition\, media arts education\, and artist support\, fostering a thriving local film community\, building empathy\, raising critical awareness\, and providing access to diverse cinematic experiences.

SUMMARY:Daughtering
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nIn “Daughtering\,” three generations of women navigate living\, dying and the dead when they are called home to appease unruly spirits. Sixteen to seventy-something\, each carries her own idea of what it means to be a daughter: caregiver\, rebel\, keeper of the stories\, breaker of the cycle. Over the course of three charged days and nights\, the daughters navigate relationship\, grief\, and the business of the old house that contains them\, alive in its own way with memory and an impressive population of mice. What unfolds is a darkly humorous\, emotionally resonant exploration of identity\, inheritance and the universal work of becoming who we are\, despite (and because of) where we come from. The play culminates in DIY ceremony and catharsis – as tender\, fierce and complicated as daughtering itself.

SUMMARY:COmpass REsonance: Norwegian Wood (season finale)
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nNORWEGIAN WOOD with COmpass REsonance\nWhat unfolds when a pristine Scandinavian landscape inspires music\, brought to life by one of the most innovative and exhilarating string ensembles? \nCOmpass REsonance\, known as “Boulder’s CORE\,” presents an unforgettable performance inspired by Nordic Romanticism—and more!\nAudiences will experience the evocative Holberg Suite by the poetic Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg\, interwoven with a bouquet of varied gems. \nThis concert’s repertoire has been expanded with an intermission added\, to reflect that CORE’s December Merry Mozart concert was canceled due to severe winds and loss of electricity across the city. The program is now a combination of works from the canceled December program and the previously planned March program. Therefore\, the first half\nof the 3/21 concert includes Mozart’s dancing Divertimento in F Major\, and his heartfelt Piano Concerto K.413\, featuring Mina Gajić as piano soloist. Shorter works that refresh the aural palate include J.S. Bach’s timeless “Arioso\,” and “Norwegian Wood” by Lennon/McCartney—in a totally new version of The Beatles’ much adored classic. \nPROGRAM:\nSalzburg Symphony “Divertimento” in F Major\, K.138—W.A. Mozart\nLargo from Concerto in F Minor\, BWV 1056—J.S. Bach\nPiano Concerto in F Major\, K.413—W.A. Mozart\nIntermission\nNorwegian Wood—Lennon/McCartney\, arr. Billy Alvis\nHolberg Suite\, Op. 40—Edvard Grieg \nCOmpass REsonance (CORE) is a conductorless ensemble uniting acclaimed musicians from across the U.S. alongside Colorado’s finest talents. CORE’s artists\, comprising concertmasters\, principal orchestral players\, and distinguished quartet performers from Asia\, Europe\, and North America\, gather in Boulder to present innovative musical experiences that transcend time and culture. “COmpass REsonance… has unveiled a bold 2025–26 season as it completes its evolution from the 44-year-old Boulder Bach Festival. The announcement marks the first full season under its new name and mission\, following a legal rebrand in January 2025. The transition reflects a decade of artistic expansion led by pianist Mina Gajić and violinist-conductor Zachary Carrettin\, who took the festival’s helm in 2014. Under their direction\, programming has grown to encompass five centuries of music\, improvisation and cross-disciplinary collaborations. The group’s mission is “to enrich lives with performances of music from across time and cultures and to create distinct learning opportunities for musicians and audiences.” -Daily Camera

SUMMARY:BVSD Annual High School Art Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:On View April 2 – May 3 | Opening Reception: April 2 \, 5 – 7 PM \nFor the BVSD Annual High School Art Exhibition\, this year’s theme is “The Third Eye\,” in line with this year’s PEEK fundraiser theme. The prompt was shared with BVSD educators in September\, giving teachers and students an entire academic year to explore the idea in the classroom. The theme has served as a launching point for sustained educational inquiry. The exhibition opens with a public reception and\, in partnership with Boulder Arts Week\, will feature a student-led artist talk for the first time. \nThe Third Eye invites student artists to explore the connections between art\, spirituality\, and the unseen. Centered on the idea that art can be more than representation\, the theme positions creative practice as a portal into liminal spaces\, forgotten rituals\, and deeper ways of knowing. \nAcross art history\, artists have turned to spiritual and mystical traditions as sources of transformation—from Hildegard of Bingen’s illuminated visions and Georgiana Houghton’s trance drawings to the abstract languages of Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky. In this lineage\, students ask: How does art help us access the unknown? How can ritual\, myth\, or meditation be part of creative practice? What does it mean to “see” beyond the visible?

SUMMARY:Marty O'Reilly with Antonio Lopez
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nMarty O’Reilly’s music feels timeless\, like an old story told in a new way. His raw\, soulful voice and gritty guitar playing form the foundation of a sound rooted in Americana. Drawing inspiration from folk icons like Woody Guthrie\, blues legends like Howlin’ Wolf\, gospel pioneers like Sister Rosetta Thorpe\, and storytellers like Tom Waits\, Marty’s music captivates and connects audiences. \nHis live performances aren’t just concerts; they’re cathartic experiences. From soft and haunting moments to wild and electric highs\, his shows linger with you long after the lights come up. Marty’s songs dig deep into the human experience\, exploring themes of loneliness\, connection\, love\, and loss. Whether performing solo or with a full band\, he brings listeners into his world\, making them feel like part of the story. \nOver years of relentless touring and self-funded albums\, Marty has built a dedicated following. He’s shared the stage with Shakey Graves\, St. Paul & The Broken Bones\, and Sarah Jarosz and played festivals like Bottlerock and High Sierra Music Festival. Through it all\, he remains focused on creating music that is honest\, meaningful\, and profoundly real. \nAntonio Lopez is a quiet man with something to say. His music is like an onion\, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener. His sound is modern folk rock with marimba swells and swooning fingerstyle guitar over a rock-solid rhythm section. Through the lens of his indigenous Chicano roots\, Lopez speaks many truths with gentle precision. Rather than tell the listener what to feel or think\, Lopez invites you to see yourself reflected in the lyrical stories created by the music. He holds degrees in guitar performance and music composition from Adams State University. Antonio Lopez is a Colorado native from Alamosa and now resides in Longmont.
